Assassin’s Creed II

Back in 2012 I was full bore into my Steam whore phase where anything that even remotely looked interesting that was on a deeply discounted sale I would invariably pick up. I have dozens of games that I have either only played a few minutes in, and some I have never even installed (after five + years of ownership). During the 2012 Christmas sale I picked up Assassin's Creed II: Deluxe Edition for $4.99, as well as Assassin's Creed, Assassin's Creed Brotherhood Deluxe, and Assassin's Creed Revelations - Gold Edition for $4.99 - $7.49 each.

PC Gaming is Dead and Cryptocurrency Killed It

I am a free market guy, I don’t believe that the government has any business setting minimum wage, rent controls, and the like. The market should dictate the price of any given product or service, and people should be free to make informed (or misinformed) decisions at will. At least I thought I was a free market guy. It turns out I am as long as it works for me, but when I feel the negative effects of the pseudo-free market that exists in America, I am one of those pussies who cry to the Federal Government for help.

Fallout 4 Survival Mode When Freedom Calls

Earlier tonight I started my first survival difficulty game in Fallout 4. The livestreamed video above is of the Minutemen faction quest “When Freedom Calls”, which is essentially the first proper quest after the beginning of Act 1 with “Out of Time”, a quest specifically designed to get the Sole Survivor out of the vault and into Concord to begin the Minutemen questline. The next main act quest is “Jewel of the Commonwealth”.

Livestream Tonight

Tonight I will be doing a livestream of Flashpoint Campaigns: Red Storm playing as the Soviets in the scenario "Ardennes Revisited". The stream will begin at 19:30 EST and I plan on covering the opening as well as a few turns. Depending on how it goes, I may push the envelope and complete the scenario if possible (I have to be mindful of the Comcast data cap). To keep things reasonable I will probably use the low settings since it is a tactical game and the need for 1080p may be overkill.

Check it out over on YouTube.

Update: Sorry about the technical difficulties. Apparently I can livestream regular games, but cannot stream something that is in windowed mode or appearing to be running on a desktop (even though I have those settings enabled). I will research this and figure out a solution as I feel livestreaming a game such as FCRS is more suited to my time availability these days (writing a full blown AAR as I have done in the past took several days).

Steam Winter Sale - ArmA 3

There were several games that I picked up for Christmas during the Steam Winter Sale: American Truck Simulator, ArmA 3, Dishonored, South Park, Tabletop Simulator, as well as some DLC for a race management game that I am heavily into called Motorsport Manager.

I took a look at ArmA 3 a full three years ago during a Steam Free Play Weekend offer and was not impressed with what I saw, given the price point at that time (it was going for $59.99 USD and was marked down that weekend to $29.99). I noted an issue with armor crews bailing yet continuing on the assigned waypoint as if they could possibly contribute to the battle.

Breach & Clear Sale

Breach & Clear is currently on sale at Steam for 90% off at $1.49 USD. It can be bundled with Breach & Clear: Deadline Rebirth for $2.99 USD. While I have both games I really could not get into the changes they made with Deadline Rebirth and haven't played it in quite some time. The original B&C however is a very well made turn-based tactical tactical game that is well worth the full price of $14.99 and is a steal at 90% off.

Breach & Clear Operation Thermal Gauntlet

Mission Description: “Mexico’s finally gotten serious about stopping the Torres Cartel. That’s where you come in. Break up this high-level meeting in the desert outside of Juarez – they won’t be happy to see you. Engage all targets, neutralize and sanitize the AO.” This is a straight up kill mission where JTF2 Alpha Squad takes no prisoners. Which unfortunately is kind of a band thing given the briefing provided.

Blog Maintenance and Other Things

Hello everyone, I have been made aware that some of the file download links no longer work. I will begin the process of reviewing what links are expired and will update them accordingly. If you happen to encounter a broken file download link, the best way to alert me to this is to make a comment in the section that you are experiencing the broken link at.

What I am working on: I have had a new gaming rig since March of this year and have been playing a lot of games but have done little blog posting other than a video or commentary here and there. Part of this is due to the amount of time required to write a worthwhile post, and part of it is that I have not brought over certain applications yet such as Paint Shop Pro (something that I have had for over ten years but it still works and does everything that I need it to).

I have been dabbling a little bit in Flashpoint Campaigns: Red Storm, and hopefully can get back into it enough to complete the Soviet single player scenarios and write up full AAR’s, but truth be told none of those previous entries registered in any of my three top ten lists on the left side of the blog frame. What does register are one off efforts and a couple of videos now and again.

While I do not have advertising on this blog and have no need to whore myself out to click bait traps, it would be nice to see some feedback if there is something specific that interests you. The comment section at the bottom of each post is the place to do it. While this blog is largely an open canvass, I will take into consideration recommendations.
